NOVA School of Law launches DigiForce, a pioneering project on the enforcement of EU Digital Regulation

NOVA School of Law has launched DigiForce, an innovative programme dedicated to strengthening the administrative enforcement of the European Union’s main digital regulations, namely the Artificial Intelligence Act (AIA) and the Digital Services Act (DSA). The project began on the 1st of October, will run for 36 months, and is coordinated by researcher Filipe Brito Bastos. DigiForce addresses the growing complexity and legal uncertainty surrounding the enforcement of these laws, promoting greater clarity at a decisive moment for the protection of fundamental rights, the integrity of democratic processes, and Europe’s digital economy. The programme includes 61 hours of yearly training, featuring a 46-hour Summer School at NOVA School of Law, aimed at students and young professionals from Portugal, the EU, and beyond. Three series of in-person and online seminars complement the training.

On the research side, DigiForce will produce international publications, annual conferences, and debates focused on national perspectives, filling an important gap in the study of enforcement mechanisms, administrative cooperation, and fundamental rights implications. By combining research, teaching, and public outreach, DigiForce aims to empower professionals and contribute to a more effective and transparent enforcement of EU digital regulation.
