João Zenha Martins is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law of Universidade Nova de Lisboa/NOVA School of Law. He has worked as a deputy to the Ombudsman, as a consultant to the Ministry of Justice and to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, and has represented Portugal in various organisations (eg International Ombudsman Institute, Company Law Expert Group, Community Group on European Contract Law, National Start-up Co-ordinators, Convention on preventing and combating domestic violence set up by the Council of Europe) and participated in the drafting of various pieces of legislation. He is a frequent speaker at congresses and postgraduate and specialised courses at various national and foreign institutions. He has published dozens of articles in specialised journals and several books. He chairs the Disciplinary Board of Universidade Nova de Lisboa and is the coordinator of the Master's programme in Social and Innovation Law. His preferred areas of research and teaching are Labour Law, Sports Law, Family Law, Social Economy Law Introduction to Law and Legal Thought and Labour Law in Public Functions, having supervised dozens of dissertations in these areas.

Licenciado (1999) e mestre (2005) pela Faculdade de Direito de Lisboa, onde foi assistente, e doutorado pela NOVA School of Law (2014). Exerceu funções como adjunto do Provedor de Justiça, como consultor no Ministério da Justiça e na Presidência do Conselho de Ministros, tendo representado Portugal em diferentes organizações (eg International Ombudsman Institute, Company Law Expert Group, Grupo Comunitário sobre Direito Europeu dos Contratos, National Start-up Co-ordinators, Convenção sobre a prevenção e o combate à violência doméstica constituída no Conselho da Europa) e participado na elaboração de vários diplomas legais. Tem experiência arbitral e parecerística, intervindo com frequência em congressos e em cursos pós-graduados e especializados de várias instituições nacionais e estrangeiras. Coordena atualmente os SPEED em português. Preside ao Conselho de Disciplina da Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
