Justice Professionals Listening to and Engaging Safely with Traumatised and Exploited Children (JUST-LISTEN)
About the project
The JUST-LISTEN project aims to contribute to the integration of a child rights-based approach into justice systems, ensuring that children are heard and able to participate effectively in judicial proceedings, particularly in cases involving sexual abuse and exploitation. To this end, the project will provide 400 justice professionals with trauma-informed, inclusive and gender-sensitive training, while also developing tools and methodologies in collaboration with children themselves, integrating their participation into the design and evaluation of the solutions developed.
Portugal will serve as the pilot country for testing these approaches, which include training programmes, manuals, gamified tools, peer learning and international exchange. The project seeks to promote sustainable change within justice systems by strengthening institutional capacity and encouraging the adoption of child-friendly justice practices, with the potential for replication in other European Union Member States.
