Preparing AltExit: Preliminary Research and Proposal Development for an ERC Starting Grant on Eurosceptic Legal Contestation in the EU

Preparing AltExit: Preliminary Research and Proposal Development for an ERC Starting Grant on Eurosceptic Legal Contestation in the EU

About the project

The AltExit project examines how Euroscepticism has evolved in the European Union following Brexit. Rather than advocating withdrawal from the EU, many political actors have shifted towards influencing and contesting European integration from within its institutions, using legal and political mechanisms to advance alternative agendas.

Through an interdisciplinary approach that combines law and political science, the project assesses the impact of these strategies in areas such border control, minority rights, and the green transition, seeking to understand how they are reshaping European integration and the European Union’s fundamental values.

The project is supported by the CEDIS Seed Projects programme, a competitive internal funding initiative of CEDIS designed to foster innovative research ideas and generate preliminary scientific results that can strengthen future applications for external research funding.
