Emellin de Oliveira é Investigadora no Centro de Investigação & Desenvolvimento sobre Direito e Sociedade (CEDIS, NOVA School of Law), Coordenadora e Docente da Pós-Graduação em Direito dos Estrangeiros e da Nacionalidade (Jurisnova & NOVA School of Law), Docente Convidada na Universidade de Coimbra (Estudos Europeus) e Doutoranda na NOVA School of Law.
É também Advogada Sénior na FiO Legal, tendo como áreas de prática preferenciais: o direito da imigração, do asilo e da nacionalidade, bem como o contencioso dos direitos humanos.
Ademais, Emellin é membro do "International Migration and International Law Committee" da International Law Association, em representação da Sociedade Portuguesa de Direito Internacional, e faz parte da rede MoveS, como perita nacional (Portugal) em mobilidade intra-UE. Desde fevereiro de 2022, faz parte da Lista de Peritos da Agência da União Europeia para o Asilo (EUAA, antiga EASO).
Emellin é Cofundadora e Coordenadora Executiva do NOVA Asylum Policy Lab (NOVA FCSH) e membro do Observatório de Proteção de Dados Pessoais (NOVA School of Law), no qual é responsável pelas atividades da Linha de Investigação "Fronteiras Digitais - Proteção de Dados, Vigilância e Nacionais de Países Terceiros na UE".
Os seus interesses de investigação prendem-se com a migração, o asilo, as bases de dados para nacionais de países terceiros, a segurança, o controlo das fronteiras e os direitos humanos.

Emellin de Oliveira is a Researcher at the Research Centre on Law and Society (CEDIS, NOVA School of Law), Coordinator and Lecturer of the Postgraduate Course in Immigration and Nationality Law (Jurisnova & NOVA School of Law), Guest Lecturer at the University of Coimbra (European Studies) and PhD candidate at NOVA School of Law.
She is also a Senior Lawyer at FiO Legal, whose preferred areas of practice are immigration, asylum and nationality law, as well as human rights litigation.
In addition, Emellin is a member of the "International Migration and International Law Committee" of the International Law Association, representing the Portuguese Society of International Law, and she is part of the MoveS network, as a national expert (Portugal) in intra-EU mobility. Since February 2022, she has been on the European Union Agency for Asylum (EUAA, formerly EASO) List of Experts.
Emellin is a Co-founder and Executive Coordinator of the NOVA Asylum Policy Lab (NOVA FCSH) and a member of the Observatory of Personal Data Protection (NOVA School of Law), where she is in charge of the "Digital Borders - Data Protection, Surveillance and Third Country Nationals in EU" Research Line activities.
Her research interests focus on migration, asylum, databases for third-country nationals, security, border control and human rights.
